Richard Branson is credited with saying that you should train your people well enough so that they can leave, and treat them well enough so that they don’t want to leave.
I appreciate his intuitive grasp of the principle that so many leaders overlook: developing your people is a powerful way to increase satisfaction as well as performance. Look at the business culture benefits and retention improvements as secondary gains.
